he would agree as
she thrust the parasol point
between numbers 1 and 4.

birthday, she chose the dusty
numbers carefully,
intending to be honest
but also illegible!]
His smiles affirmed her
aim, as they continued to
share the afternoon
sun by filling each other
with adventures of the day.
In their silences
he thought of years before they'd
met which didn't compare;
which didn't add up. He loved her
much and wished that they were one.
At their leaving, just
before each would pass what the
other passed before
they met, he kissed her and said
"Rose will you marry me?"
"And she said_______!"
